July 11, 2018 . . .Locust Grove, VA. Rose Hinegardner might be seen outside planting flowers or decorating the community room, but that’s not her full-time job. She also likes to talk to residents, hang out at the fire put and see what’s going on in the computer lab. This socialite goes above and beyond her duties at the property manager at Germanna Heights. She does more than fill apartments and update spreadsheets – she makes sure residents are happy.
“I am a people person and I love being around our residents,” Hinegardner said. “I enjoy making sure everyone has something to do and look forward to.”
Hinegardner has been the manager at Germanna Heights, a senior community, for more than seven years. Prior to coming to the Germanna Heights, she worked in a nursing home so she is familiar with the senior community.
“Many of our residents don’t have a car, so it is important we have plenty of activities here to keep them busy,” she said. “We have something going on all the time.”
A favorite of the residents is karaoke night. They also love bingo and celebrating the holidays. In addition, residents enjoy the activities Hinegardner plans in the computer room, exercise area and community room.
“Oh, they love to sing,” Hinegardner said. “I can hardly get them to stop.”
Besides planning the fun activities, Hinegardner makes sure there are plenty of flowers around the community and decorations in as many places as she can get them.
When Hinegardner isn’t at work, she likes to spend time with her fiance’. You can find them at the beach, or anywhere outside, she said.
Her future plans for the community include decorating the new wagon in the front of the building, as well as adding new decorations throughout the building. In addition, she wants to plant even more flowers.
“I want this to feel like home for all our residents,” Hinegardner said.
